Guinea-Bissau is a small country located in West Africa, bordered by Senegal to the north, Guinea to the south and east, and the Atlantic Ocean to the west. It is known for its diverse ethnic groups, rich cultural heritage, and a landscape that includes coastal areas, islands, and forests. Bissau is the capital and largest city of Guinea-Bissau. Portuguese is the official language, a legacy of its colonial past, but Crioulo (a Portuguese-based creole language) and various African languages are also widely spoken. Guinea-Bissau's geography features a low-lying coastal plain, an archipelago of islands (the Bijagós Archipelago), and inland savannas and forests. Cashew nuts are the country's main export and a crucial source of income for many rural households.
