The Republic of the Congo, also known as Congo-Brazzaville, is a country located in Central Africa. It is bordered by Gabon, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), and the Atlantic Ocean. Like its neighbor, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), the Republic of the Congo was also a colony of Belgium and later France. It gained independence from France in 1960. Brazzaville is the capital and largest city of the Republic of the Congo.
